The talk about thousands of hours may apply to the bulb but not to the entire unit. You cannot replace a bulb, just the entire unit. We are keeping a couple of spares for the inevitable failures. The heat that they generate is captured within the fixture, which gets almost too warm to touch. The heat speeds up the degradation of the components and the lamps.For occasional use, they would be fine. And they look quite nice. For regular use, they are a terrible idea. I just began replacing a LOT of them that are used in display cabinets with LEDs... |
