With a standard light bulb it makes the light flicker. I've messed with it in different sockets and different bulbs and it flickers. It doesn't work at all with the energy saver bulbs. It worked for one day only. My experience with such gadgets (photocell light sensor) regardless of where I bought them has been bad. None of them seem to do what they're supposed to do and that is turn a light on at dark and off at daylight.My solution was to put a CFL bulb in the socket and keep it running night and day. The CFL is 13 watts, outdoor rated, uses very little power and therefore costs very little to run continuously.
