While it does work, I find it flaky and inconsistent. Sometimes I can wave my hand in front of the switch for a minute before it finally turns on. Look for a better switch. Motion switch doesen't work w Incandescent either. I found an occupancy sensor called Watt Stopper RS-250 - universal vacancy sensor turns lights on or off based on time and motion. Adjustable and light level sensing. Excellent product which works w all types of fluorescents and incandescents. Fuss free. I have tried them with 2 8' florescent lights in the garage, and they have a terrible flicker and the sensor only works occasionally. Stay away from these! They work consistently and I've had no issues with them at all. There is another review where someone tried to use it with an X-10 system. I made some attempts to use X-10 with other devices, and gave up because it's unreliable in general. As long as you're using this for Insteon control, it should work just fine. My only complaint is Smarthome Insteon products are overpriced and they apparently don't allow 3rd party retailers to sell them for less than the list price. When I received the two only one worked the other would not come on at all. I returned the faulty light, and to Amazons credit they promptly sent me another. Unfortunately that one didn't work properly either, would turn off after a short while and would not come back on for a long while. So i sent it back and again Amazon sent me another. Today after one week of seldom use I have to send the third one back because it only comes on for a minute or two then will not come on again for an indiscriminate amount of time (15 or 20 minutes). These lights are great when they work, only problem is it's a crap shoot as to whether the one you get works properly. Bad: Has non-standard light bulb connector. The bulb is not standard threaded Variety. its got two prongs. Don't know how rare these bulbs are to obtain. Also there is no sensitivity adjustment for the motion detector. I installed the light on ceiling "tucked" back into a small closet and the light still comes on even when you come near the entrance to closet. No big deal but I had to paint half the sensor black to reduce its sensitivity. The light was always being left on...so I wanted to create some form of automatic shut off. I initially assumed I would have to consider a professional installation of something triggered by the door or a special switch. When research led me to this fixture it seemed like a great possibility. It proved to be just that. I was able to install it quickly and easily...and more importatly it works perfect. The light comes on at the very moment one approaches the door if and when openned... and turns off in three minutes. It looks fine and is energy efficient.
