Not for energy saving, but for convenience.All four units work flawlessly. The light output is excellent, and the lag time for the sensor is very short considering it's a contact closure instead of a solid state switch. I aligned the fixture so the sensor was closer to the closet door to give the sensor an unimpeded line of sight (If the sensor were toward the rear of the closet, the lamp and lens may block the sensor).
