Bottom line: Stop fighting it and just buy this thing already. I tried every screw on dawn to dusk adapter available and they all either didn't work well or stopped working after a short amount of time. In the end, I spent MORE than the cost of this porch light on all those failed attempts and finally just bit the bullet and bought this thing.Suffice to say, it works great! Turns on at dusk and off by the time I wake up. Just as advertised. I also think it looks great and I love the yellow glow it gives off. I resist CFL bulbs because I hate their blueish tint, but because of the yellow shade this lamp comes with, it's almost as if you have a candle in the thing.
